Coach Bonnie Glass
Synchro Coach
Bonnie Glass grew up figure skating in the Philadelphia area and achieved high level tests in freestyle, ice dance, figures, and moves-in-the-field. Bonnie graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a BA in Psychology and minor in Criminology where she was a member of the Miami University Varsity Synchronized Skating Team. As a Division I NCAA athlete she competed with the team nationally and internationally representing both Miami University and USA. She was a member of the 1999 National Championship team, 2000 Prague International Cup team, and Team USA. Upon graduation from Miami Bonnie moved to New York City and received her MS in Social Work from Columbia University. While practicing social work in NYC she was also Assistant Coach to CPIce Synchronized Skating program and a figure skating coach with Skating Club of New York. She coached CPIce for 7 formative years and coached the teams to Eastern Sectional Champions and Empire State Game Champions. Bonnie now lives in Burlington, Vermont with her husband and two sons. In addition to coaching the University of Vermont Synchronized Skating Open Collegiate Team she is Assistant Director of the Vermont Center for Resiliency and Senior Adjunct Faculty at Columbia University School of Social Work. When she is not practicing social work or coaching skating you can find her playing outside, making coffee, and daydreaming with her little family.
Coach Samantha Shanks
Synchro Coach
Samantha Shanks grew up figure skating in Burlington, Vermont and achieved high level tests in ice dance and moves in the field. She completed her bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Vermont. During her four undergraduate years, Samantha skated with the UVM Synchronized Skating Team and acted as captain of the team for two of those years. She was also the UVM Figure Skating Club President during her senior year. After graduating in 2019, Samantha continued her education and earned her MS in Dietetics at UVM while working alongside Bonnie as the team's assistant coach. In addition to coaching UVM synchro, Samantha is a Registered Dietitian who works with individuals to find sustainable strategies to help meet individual nutrition needs and goals. In her free time, Samantha enjoys cooking, hiking, and cross country skiing.
Jennifer Lupia
Freestyle Coach
Originally from Watertown, NY Jennifer received her training in Lake Placid, NY. She has coached in several clubs in Northern New York, New Hampshire and Vermont. Jennifer is also the author of a workbook series called "Simply Move It".
Jennifer Lupia is the 2017 World Figure Silver Medalist and ice skating coach in ​Burlington Vermont and Hanover, NH. She is a USFSA five time Gold Medallist in Figure, Freestyle, Ice Dance, Free Dance, Moves in The Field, and CFSA Gold Medallist in Ice Dance. She was also the Captain of National Competitive Synchronized Skating Team, Plus a North Atlantic Competitor, and Empire State Games Competitor. She is a member of the Watertown Figure Skating Club's Gold Medal Club, The Lake Placid Hall of Fame and most recently the World Figure Hall of Fame.
Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from SUNY Potsdam 1996. She is PSA Rated Power Hockey Level 2, Registered Freestyle & Moves in The Field 2005
Jennifer has taught skaters through Gold in Moves in the Field and Silver Freestyle. Program Director for several programs across New England including CVSC. Assistant Coach of two Theater On Ice Teams, the Adult team "On Thin Ice" And "Vermont Children's Theater on Ice" Jennifer has experience coaching Division I Hockey Players. She has been Production Assistant for Turner Broadcasting's "Star's On Ice", stage manager for "Goodwill Games,"and Assistant Director and Director for production of ESPN's "Great Outdoor Games." Jennifer was the assistant to the Technical Director at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts; As well as, stage manager for Placid Productions.
