Bonnie Glass
Coach
Bonnie Glass grew up figure skating in the Philadelphia area and achieved high level tests in freestyle, ice dance, figures, and moves-in-the-field. Bonnie graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a BA in Psychology and minor in Criminology where she was a member of the Miami University Varsity Synchronized Skating Team. As a Division I NCAA athlete she competed with the team nationally and internationally representing both Miami University and USA. She was a member of the 1999 National Championship team, 2000 Prague International Cup team, and Team USA. Upon graduation from Miami Bonnie moved to New York City and received her MS in Social Work from Columbia University. While practicing social work in NYC she was also Assistant Coach to CPIce Synchronized Skating program and a figure skating coach with Skating Club of New York. She coached CPIce for 7 formative years and coached the teams to Eastern Sectional Champions and Empire State Game Champions. Bonnie now lives in Burlington, Vermont with her husband and two sons. In addition to coaching the University of Vermont Synchronized Skating Open Collegiate Team she is Assistant Director of the Vermont Center for Resiliency and Senior Adjunct Faculty at Columbia University School of Social Work. When she is not practicing social work or coaching skating you can find her playing outside, making coffee, and daydreaming with her little family.
Samantha Shanks
Coach
Samantha Shanks grew up figure skating in Burlington, Vermont. She passed her gold level tests in ice dance and moves in the field, and intermediate level in freestyle. She attended the University of Vermont and received her B.S in Dietetics, Nutrition and Food Science with a minor in psychology. During her undergraduate years, Samantha skated with the UVM Synchronized Skating Team. She acted as a team captain for two of her four years with UVM Synchro. Her senior year, she also acted as President of the UVM Figure Skating Club. After graduating in 2019, Samantha began working alongside Bonnie as the team's assistant coach while pursuing her master's degree in Dietetics at UVM. Samantha has thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of watching the club grow over the years, and is honored to have the opportunity to continue working with and learning from UVM Figure Skating athletes each season. In addition to coaching UVM Synchro, Samantha is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for the State of Vermont. In her free time, Samantha enjoys cooking, hiking, and playing field hockey.
